This is a series of 26 black and white images celebrating the powerful complexity of the female essence.  We have come a long way over the last 100 years in our fight for equality and against sexism.  Yet, the struggle continues.

I Am Woman

As I shot this series, intriguing stories emerged from each subject regardless of age or ethnicity.  We were all somehow connected through this incredible intuition.  As each story emerged more and more prevailing I was compelled to write a piece of poetry to give each image a voice.  The woman is where all human life begins.  She is a mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, grandmother, wife & matriarch.  She is a teacher, student, doctor, lawyer, nurse, artist, athlete & politician.  She is a nurturer yet neglected.  She is fearless yet she is afraid.  She is hopeful yet she is hopeless.  She powerful yet enslaved.  At times she appears superhuman.  Her essence is her superpower and she is the only reason your legacy exists.
