They say it was an accident

and that she was only responding to the

radiant calls of the sunbeam

that tirelessly tapped her Majesty’s back

in an attempt to get her attention

She tried to ignore it

but the rays persevered

unwilling to  be snubbed

by the connectivity

bequeathed upon them by spiritual forces

that mandate codependence

She moved her wings reluctantly

then hypnotically

until the energy swallowed her whole

Her wings started to flap

in this whimsical clumsy chaotic custom

which caused the wind to awaken in fury

and tumble her wildly

across the forest

She fluttered to regain her composure

and to calm the wind’s rage

into a breeze that blew her a thousand kisses

I’m told her name is Queen Alexandra

She lives deep in the forest and is heavily guarded

I am afraid to embark upon this journey of

familiar mysteries but I must find her

I will find her because my life depends upon it

And when I see her I will simply say,

“Pardon me, Your Majesty, I do not want to appear ungrateful

But when you flapped your wings the other morning

you inadvertently removed my shackles

Can you please put them back?”
